Outdoor Worship and Social Time in the Parsonage and Church Yards
Beginning on Sunday, April 18, join us for informal conversation, socializing and an outdoor worship service. These occasions will be regularly scheduled on the Sundays when we don’t have the AFAC food collection. People may gather for socializing anytime beginning at 11:00 am and on until we have our brief worship service at 12:15. The parsonage deck, new patio and surrounding yards will be available for persons to congregate. Claim this opportunity to connect with each other and to worship!
Reopening Planning Group Updates
The Reopening Planning Group is meeting on a monthly basis to assess where we are as a congregation with the question of worshiping and meeting again in person in doors, and all of this in relation to the varied twists and turns of the pandemic. The broad parameters of plans and protocols are in place for us to again gather indoors. What is missing at this point is the determination of the date gradually to begin again to use our building indoors. In the meantime, focus will be on expanding opportunities to gather outdoors for worship and other occasions, especially now that the weather is moderating. Watch weekly announcements for updates.

Transforming Generosity Through Your Storytelling
Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM
Stories, no matter how polished or who authored the words, transform our actions and lives. Yet we overlook or forget the power of sharing stories the moment giving or financial statements are a topic of discussion. We tend to focus on giving as a transaction rather than how stories inspire generosity, deepen faith and transform lives.
The Stewardship and Missions Table of the Metro D.C. Synod invite all rostered ministers, council members, lay leaders and stewardship chairs to a 90-minute Leadership Academy session, led by Andrew Steele, VP of Development & Outreach at LIRS and Rev. Lucille “CeCee” Mills, Associate DEM of the North Carolina Synod, during which you will:
- Learn why sharing our stories is important and impactful
- Practice sharing a story in a small group guided by proven methods from our speakers
- Shift your mindset from transactional giving to the transformational joy of generosity
Social Ministry Update
During Lent we will be collecting items for Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief. Each kit needs the following items:
- one dark color light-weight bath-size towel (between 20"×40" & 52"×27")
- 2-3 bath-size (3-4 oz. for a total of 8-9 oz.) bars of soap, any brand in original wrapping
- one adult-size toothbrush in its original packaging
- one sturdy comb
- metal nail clippers.
You can either donate individual items or bring assembled kits. Wrap items in the towel and tie together with yarn or string. See a how-to assemble a Personal Care Kit video here OR here. Bring the items or assembled kits to Resurrection on a collection date before Sunday, April 18. We will accept your donations at any AFAC collection or outdoor service before April 18.
Any loose undesignated offerings received at in person outdoor services during Lent will be sent to A-SPAN.
