Journey Through Holy Week

Stuck at home? Why not take a

Journey through Holy Week.

Come on, Let’s GO!

Grab your family and then your children’s bible or even a bible your parents might use. Each day you will find a short story to read that will take you on a Journey through Holy Week. After your reading, there is a fun activity just waiting for you to further explore Holy Week. Many thanks to my friends from the Birthing Cross+Gen Community with your GR8 ideas!

Palm Sunday: Hosanna! (Matthew 21:1-11)

People greeted Jesus by waving palm branches. Find something green to wave. Parade around your house yelling Hosanna! What are you joyful about?

Holy Monday: Jesus Cleanses the Temple (Matthew 21:12-13)

Set up a chair or table with stuff on it that will not break easily. As you read the text, over-turn the table! Why did Jesus make such a mess?

Holy Tuesday: Judas Betrays Jesus (Matthew 26:14-16)

Judas betrayed his friend Jesus. Choose a friend to pray for. Say a prayer for your friend or friends. Now text or call them to let them know you prayed for them.

Holy Wednesday: A Special Meal (Matthew 26:26-30)

Set up a place for Jesus at your dinner table tonight.

Jesus had a special meal with His friends. Set a place for Jesus at your table tonight as a reminder that He is with you every time you share a meal. Commit to the practice of saying a prayer before you eat. Here is a simple one: “Come Lord Jesus, be our guest, and let these gifts to us be blessed. Amen”  Take a picture of where you have Jesus sitting and send it to Ms. Angie.

Maundy Thursday: Jesus Prays in a Garden (Matthew 26:36-46)

Jesus went to a garden to pray with his disciples. While Jesus was praying, the disciples slept.

What is your favorite place in your house or yard to pray? Show it to your family members.

Good Friday: When Jesus Died (Matthew 27:45-56)

When Jesus died, the sky went dark. Find a very dark place in your home. Turn off the light. Very slowly count to 3. What will happen on the 3rd day?

If you would like more of the story: Soldiers Mock Jesus (Matthew 27:27-31); Crucifixion of Jesus (Matthew 27:32-44) which then leads up to When Jesus Died (Matthew 27:45-56)

Holy Saturday: Jesus laid in a tomb behind a huge rock (Matthew 27:57-66)

Jesus body was put in a tomb. A big rock was rolled in front to keep Jesus in. Go on a rock hunt. Decorate your rock.

Easter Sunday: Mary running to the disciples (Matthew 28:1-10)

Jesus is Alive! Go outside or look through the window and see how many signs of life you can find. Find a way to tell someone that Jesus is alive. Sidewalk chalk? Phone call? Make a butterfly?

Happy Easter my friends. I miss you! And always remember:  Jesus loves you today, tomorrow and everyday!

With Tons of Love,

Ms. Angie
